On Chinese Space Flight

Congratulations to the Chinese for safely getting a man into space and back.

Now, on a humorous note, I present,

Worst-Case Scenario Theatre!

Narrator: It is the worst thing that can happen. As the Taikonaut reenters the atmosphere, his heat shield begins to burn up. Resigned to his unfortunate fate, he looks at the label on the shield to see if he can figure out why it's burning up.

Secret Taikonaut: Let's see... Made.... in..... China! MADE IN CHINA?!?! Dang cheap manufacturing! Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

The End

Ta-da! Of course, we're all glad it didn't happen that way.

Sorry, that last post should read, Happy Columbus Day.
Oh. And happy Columbian Coffee day.

Planck's constant...

...should once again be named "The Elementary Wirkungsquantum." That's what Millikan called it in one of his papers from 1913. The Germans currently call it "Das Plancksche Wirkungsquantum," which is better, but we can't be expected to go about using German for everything.

Next thing you know, we'll be calling the element sodium "Natrium" again. Good times.
