Crazy Adam Picture

I created another crazy picture; this time it is of Adam. Since I can't link to it directly, you have to visit Black Smokers! extra and click on the "Satan Adam" link on the right.

This is entertaining

Remember how Felix posted the Doonesbury quote? Someone then linked to our site through a search for that quote:
Hilarious irony at work:
Some person just came to our web site through a google for "I'M A PICTURE OF PAMELA ANDERSON. I'M DEMI MOORE.". I looked at the search, and there are two other blogs that feature the phrase. One of them led me to a link to the comic that Felix referenced.
The same person came back and posted a comment on that quote:

Yeah, it was probably me, since I cut-and-pasted the search phrase from my own blog ("I WANT TO EAT A NUT OF LAERMA"... a phrase from the old Sega game Phantasy Star, if you're curious) and it was from the "HEADLINE", so it was in caps. Just curious to see how many blogs took Garry Trudeau's bait... it's up to 5 now.

Steve Brandon

Rather funny, actually.

To Adam

Please try to keep me up-to-date on the status of that thing you're planning tomorrow night.

Umm, whoops!

Hey Laurel, guess whose NHS collar you left at Ms. Jones' house tonight?

Changes

I removed Meredith's crazy picture (by her request) and added a bunch of crazy searches to Black Smokers! extra.

Odd

There's some weird person on the East coast using adelphia.net as an ISP doing some odd searches. Over the past few hours, he's clicked to our web site searching for (in order) "sleeping with his eyes" weird, "felix sleeping with", and "laurel falls asleep".

If you are that person, please tell us who you are (comment, or sign the guestbook)!

Virus update

Adam mentioned to me that both his home and work computer were infected with the virus. Also, I heard that if your PC hasn't been infected or crashed by the virus, it will very likely be. I heard that most of A&M's PCs were infected

Therefore, here is the link to the patch that fixes the Microsoft ® security hole and also more details and a removal program.

Pah!

I have been spending the morning patching computers at my work because of a stupid microsoft security hole! The story is, Microsoft released a report about a vulnerability (they had been notified of it months before) that made all Win2K, XP, and NT 4 computers susceptible to remote take-overs, etc a month ago. They said not to worry about it essentially because it would be too hard to write a virus to exploit it.

Well, it wasn't. So, we had to disconnect our whole building from TAMU's network, shut down all the computers, and manually install a patch one computer by one. Bah!

And what's worse, the government is using Microsoft software for things like homeland security, when Microsoft itself doesn't have any security at all!

As I said previously, Pah!

More crazy pictures

I did a crazy picture of Felix, and then of Meredith. Also, if you didn't see, I posted a picture of Meredith eating the mud.

Pah! Unfortunately, I can't link directly to them, so you can find them at the top of the right sidebar at Black Smokers! extra along with more random stuff.

Coolness

I was reading the latest issue of Popular Science when, in their article about "10 brilliant scientists," I saw the origami dude! He's in there with an article and a picture about his computational origami. His name is Erik Demaine and we met him for the origami seminar at National Science Bowl. I thought that it was pretty cool that a guy who I met personally has a whole page and a quarter devoted to him in PopSci. I had no idea that he graduated from college when he was 14. That's stone crazy.

3000!

We just had our 3000th visit from someone in Chile looking for "happy three frends" in a Google Search engine. But it's 3000, anyway!

Okay!

I have done it! We now have "Black Smokers! extra," a web page dedicated to searches and hosting random pictures, etc. I put a link in the sidebar and removed the searches thing. No more "trolling for Google hits." ;-)

BTW, Laurel, please try to give me that script.

Hrm.

This search thing has kind of gotten out of hand (it takes up way too much sidebar space in my opinion and also misleads people into coming here). So, I was thinking about moving it to another web page, but I don't know where I can host it. Do any of you know a free, no-ads web hosting place where I could do this?
